...This House is For Sale. Or rather, it will be next Monday AArrrghhhhh.
We have literally spent the entire weekend at the tip!! Every single room in our house has been blitzed to within an inch of it's life, and anything that hasn't been used for a while (including my very expensive curtains from our old house) has now either gone on Freecycle, eBay, charity or the tip. The whole place feels fab and is hopefully, much easier to keep clean and tidy.
Mike took the girls to the cinema at the weekend and while they were gone, I got on my marigolds and scrubbed all the woodowrk in the hall and lounge so it can be painted this week. Mike has also touched up the kitchen paint and the loung walls. We've still got quite a list but it's getting smaller by the minute.
We have also bought some new plants for the front door and we've swept up all the leaves that were cluttering the front of the house.
This morning, we took the plunge and called the estate agent. He knows we've got a little more work to do, so we've agreed he's coming next Monday to take photos and sign the paperwork. That gives us a week to get sorted and my oh my I'm terrified.
When we moved here, we sold our house with a 1 yr old and a 2.5 year old, so I'm sure it's going to be easier this time around. Nicola says she would love to buy the house but for two reasons, she won't. She and Gordon anre getting married in September so money's a bit tight, and also, she thinks it would be weird moving into a house a friend had owned (I think I'd fee lthe same too). So, it's on the market we go.
The house round the corner has gone up for sale too which I can't make my mind up about. It's a smaller house and in a different price range, but it's still a 4 bed house. Mike thinks it's good to have competition, I think I'll reserve judgement.
So, if anyone's looking for me this week, I'll be the one with an old toothbrush, cloth and bleach in my hand cleaning everything that sits still long enough.
Keep everything crossed for us guys. This sale not only will allow us to move, but will hopefully, buy us our dream house, and maybe even allow Mike a few months off work to spend getting settled into our new lives in Oz.
Talking of Australia, I called Dr Smart today and his staff have given me the tracking number for our medicals, and on checking the Royal Mail web site, I am happy to announce that they have arrived in Australia. Whether or not DIMA actually have them, or will open them any time soon is anyone's guess though. Also, Ruly (at George's office) has confirmed our police checks have arrived and been sent to DIMA and that they've confirmed our case number with Victoria. Now, we just need a lovely case officer at DIMA to open the envelopes - soon please?
