The day after Boxing Day we spent moving the girls' rooms around and redoing the decor for them. Becca's too big for Pooh now so she's got Dora and Ellie got some new Princess things for her room. They're both thrilled with the transformations and the rooms really look great. Another surprise was the our new PC arrived today (wasn't due til Friday) so Mike was VERY happy to have a new toy to play with.
Thursday was fab. Jim nd Moira collected the girls around 12.30 to take them to the panto and for an overnighter. Mike and I drove to Glasgow, and checked into our hotel then went out shopping in the sales. We walked for hours, bought loads and then went to TGI's for cocktails. Afterwards, we went back to the hotel, got changed and went to dinner with Pat, Wendy, Jen, Jonathan, Alan and Alison (ex work colleagues) at Pancho Villas. Dinner was great, company was great, margheuritas were great but it was over all too quickly.
The hotel had looked great in it's web site, but it was a fair bit more different in reality. Hoever, that said, it was clean, and the location as perfect so we couldn't grumble for £50!
Next morning my back was agony and I was struggling to walk. Put it down to all the shopping the day before and drove off to collect the kids.
Was due to go our for lunch with Alison, Fiona and Katie on the Satrday, but I had a terrible night with my back on the Friday and therefore decided to go see the Dr. I called at 9am in the hopes that I'd get seen shrp and still get to Glasgow to meet the girls. No such luck. Still waitingto see the Dr at 4pm!! Anyway, the long and short of it is that the Dr thinks I've fractured my coccyx and has given me more pain killers. That certianly explains the pain I've been in all week!
New Year's Eve - I always struggle with Hogmanay. I find it a difficult day. Last year it was horrendous as I was VERY depressed still and we were desperately trying to keep upbeat this year. I had a lloonnnggg lie in to rest my back while Mike took the girls swimming and after lunch, we had a visit to the shops.
The kids were in bed sharp and we sat down to watch some more 24 and ate some nibbles. I crashed out around 11 but Mike woke me before the bells and we had some champagne and toasted the new year in (the year we move to Australia). Our house as a great view of the Forth valley so we watched the fireworks all explode and heard on the TV that once again, the Edinburgh and Glasgow parties were cancelled due to bad weather!! Hopefully, there'll be none of that in Aus. We then had a chat with Andy and Josie in Sydney and watched some more TV before crashing around 1.30.
So today is New Year's Day 2007. We've spent the day taking down our Christmas decs etc. and removing anything that can't be shipped to Oz (pine cones, willow or untreated wood). The house looks great, lovely and tidy again...aaahhhhhh.
Mike sadly has to return to work tomorrow but we're happy as larry as this is the year we move to Australia. It's heard to describe how it feels really. This is going to be both the most exciting, scary and emotional year of our lives. Goodness only knows what's going to happen.
The next few weeks will no doubt be filled with DIY and medicals and hopefully, will pass quickly.
It snowed a little today, Ellie was very excited. I really hope it snows properly one weekend this winter so we can all enjoy it together - on last time.
