Toot Toot Chugga Chugga

Well, today is the first official day of the summer hols and it's the only day we've got completely free before Mike finishes work in two weeks.  Just got a txt from my friend Lynn Lawson and we've arranged for a quick visit this afternoon to say goodbye to her and the kids as they're off on hols on Wednesday and we'll probably have moved to my Mum's by the time they get back.

This moring, I'm going to take advantage of the brief hour without rain and take the kids into Clarks to get new shoes so there goes my quiet day.

Mike's parents finally got home via Glasgow airport last night, more than a day late due to the terror alert.  At least they're safe.

Wiggling

A while back, we arranged with Lynn Scott to see the Wiggles show with her and the boys when it goes to Melbourne later this year and the tickets went on sale today 9am Aust time.  That meant midnight here so we sat up waiting.  At midnight, the tickets went on sale and the site promptly threw us out as it was mobbed!  We eventually got tickets at 1am and by then all the good ones were gone.  Hey ho.   Should be a laught though, although the Wiggles is for the kids, I like watching them Live as the girls LOVE them and know all the songs and dances so they really get in to it.  This time we'll be in Australia though, I wonder if it'll be different?

All The Goodbyes are REALLY getting to us

We've had a ton of goodbyes this week and they're really getting us down now.

On Thursday both girls finished up nursery and playgroup and there were lots of little people huggung each other and teachers.  Of course, most of them will see each other in August but not us.  The teachers at nurery had written us some goodbye cards and I started reading them in the car on the way home - huge mistake.  I was in floods of tears for the rest of the day!

On Friday, Mike said goodbye to a good friend at work who's off on hols now and won't see him again.  She gave us all St Christophers, a tartan Xmas tree decoration, and lots of Scottish stickers for the kids.

Last night, my girlfriends that I know through the nursery and I had a meal at Lynn's house.  Sharon, Nicola, Isobel, Cheryl and Lynn all turned up an we had a real laugh (mostly at the expense of Sharon's new man as she let slip about him texting her to say he'd taken a viagra!!!!!!!!).  At one point though, a bottle of champagne appeared followed by a speech and lovely necklace and I was in floods again.  Got home at 3.15am this morning and I can tell you, it's been a while since I was up that late.  Maybe there's life in the old dog yet lololol.

Today, we had lunch with old friends Pat & Wendy, Jen, Alison and Alan at Beancross farm.  We only catch up 2 or 3 times a year but they're great friends, the kind you can not see for a year and pick up the phone like it was yesterday.  Great friends.

Tonight, both Mike and I are feeling really flat.  I feel like my heart and my stomac are competing for space in my throat.   I think this week has brought with it the realisation of what we're doing and it's really hurting.  I've caught my Mum's chin quivering a few time this week whenever we talk about the move and it's so hard to be the cause of so much pain.

Talking of pain, I trapped my finger in the car door this week and it's agony.  I've got a lovely purple finger and nail.  God, I realy hope the nail doesn't fall off.  You should see me trying to type, it's a nightmate!!

Before I go, i have to tell you that Mike's Mum and Dad were due home from their hols last night, but are still in Austria as we speak due to the terror alert at Glasgow Airport.  Lets hope they get home soon.

So long........
