Saturday past was the latest Scots Meet for BE folks. We met at lunchtime in Walkabout in Edinburgh and had a great time. I always find I get weird looks from people when I tell them I'm going off on my own to meet some people from the internet. However, I can honestly say, I've met some really lovely people of the course of the last year, and some of whom, I hope to be friends with for a long time.
Half term is nearly over (yyyeeeaahhh) and we ended it on a high note - a trip into town for new shoes and....a trip to the dentist!! Both kids got a clean bill of health and Mr Preston was even pelase to announce that a little earlier than expected, Ellie has 2 wobbly teeth! She's chuffed to bits. He reckons they'll be gone by the summer which is a bit early, but nothing to worry about.
With regards to the move, we've had a busy few days. We've chased the landlord of our rental and he's nearly got all the leases etc sorted out. We're not pushing him as we're in no rush though. We've bought a pile of bedding too. We plan to use our current stuff in the rental and have bought the new stuff to ship to Oz. Talking of shipping, we've booked Doree Bonner to come pack us up and put our stuff into storage until the visas come in. They are coming the week after Easter which leaves us 2 days to clean the house for the new buyers. Popped into the solicitrs today too to hand in forms etc. He called me back this afternoon to confirm our unqualified acceptance of the offer on our house was ready to go and should have been faxed off to the buyers' solicitor already. We also started cleaning and disinfecting all our outdoors type stuff at the weekend and as a result, the garage now smells like a bottle of Jeyes.
There was a huge flurry of activity on the list of October visa applicants last week, including numerous COs and a visa. This has really unsettled us I can tell you. We were all ready to sit tight and wait it out, then this hit us and suddenly we're back to waking up at all hours waiting on a call from George. George, if you'r ereading this, please wake us up at 3am tomorrow morning.
