First of all, apologies to Hutch. Mate, I have not logged onto this site for a while, appreciate you checking up on us. I will message you to check where you are dude. You were our inspiration when we were cold and lonely in the UK.

So, I sit here tonight, updating the blog 2 years to the minute we arrived. For those who are not avid readers, i.e. the sensible ones, we came here with a fair bit of cash, and an idea of mortgage free living, a massive house with a pool, that bird from the adverts who said "So what the bloody hell you waiting for?" living next door, and a fair bit of optimism. Where are we 2 years on? Read on my pretties, read on.

OK, first the bad news. We're broke. Well, not broke, but mortgage free living disappeared a LONG time ago. You know the problem? Expectation, above. Big house? Sure, no problem, got a million dollars? Well, no. Cue the wife. "But it's so lovely, just look at the space". Call to Westpac. Can I please be a slave to the mortgage again? Ofcourse sir. Slightly different to the UK, we will not only charge you interest, but also a yearly "service" fee. Narf will tell you, we've all paid for "service" in our time, but I've never wasted $500 on a service like on the mortgage, but there you go.

So, we get the house, now we have to pay for it. Interest rates go through the roof. Marvellous. We've moved from rented with loads of spare cash per month, now we're paying this bloody over inflated mortgage. I decide to quit my well paid job and start a business as I cant stand corporate Australian life. I need to get down the boozer on a Friday 'arvo' (See previous posts), not try to impress how late I can stay to be a success. So, capital float starts to diminish. What better idea now than to put a pool in.

The pool's there, it cost twice as much as what we thought, and until 2 weeks ago we could not use the f*cker cos it rains here so much and was so cold. We've just put solar in, a year was finished, and now the wife's actually used it. Marvellous. You've all seen the film the Money Pit, well that hole in the ground was, until 14 days ago, the frickin money pit.

Business is going well. We've made some money, less than if I was 'working', but you speculate to accumulate, and we're proud of what we have done so far, with some big name clients on the books. You've got to admire our style, coupling our roll of the dice with the biggest meltdown of the global economy since for 50 odd years, but those are the breaks I guess.

Anyway, enough bad news. The good news is our little man. He is now walking, and the little Aussie battler is the light of our life. He is so wonderful, and we never would have had him had we stayed in the UK, the party life was too appealing. We also have a wonderful group of friends, and for the first time in my life I no longer feel like I am living abroad. I am truly settled, K has been for at least a year, so that's it, we're here to stay.

We take so many things for granted now. The walks along the beach, or through the bush. We went camping recently, stayed in a field with 300 horses. Kai just crawled off across this field to the horses, we dont have to worry about him. Everything is so open, so clean, and so safe. I even picked up some goods from Ebay tonight, the person I bought off left them outside their house for me to collect ! There was this house being built down the road, and they had these real nice stone blocks delivered. They had to be worth $10k. They sat outside, on the road for 2 weeks. Nobody touched them. Its amazing. In the UK they would be gone first night. K walks the dogs at night and always says how safe she feels. Its wonderful.

In short, we love it, and for once I really mean we. My mate Mark is a yids fan, and that's made all the difference. If you're reading Mark, "Tap it !".

If you're reading this with a plan to move, DO IT. It's tough, but sit it out, I did and I am so happy. If you're reading this to check on how we're doing. We appreciate your love and care so much, and we're doing great.

Take care all, I will update again much sooner than last time.
