Me again

Posted on Sun 25 February 2007 at 05:10

Poor Karen's been ill all weekend!  Well it actually started on Thursday, went to the Docs on Friday and was diagnosed with an, apparently common, 'Summer Virus'.  All I can say is that I'm bloody glad I haven't got it cos she's been basically bed (with frequent bathroom) riden all weekend, poor love.  I think she's getting over it a bit now, but she's still not right.

This of course means that I am writing this installment.   Not really much going on at the moment, getting to grips with the job of speaking to law breakers and, best of all, making recommendations to the Court on what sentence to give them...I won't let the power go to my head just yet!

Things are pretty much ticking along on the household, though I had to go up on the roof today because of the ticking that was coming from there last night, but it doesn't look like it's falling down so, unless we have deathwatch beatles, I think we can put the noise down to metal contracting now that the evenings are getting cooler (only 15C last night...winter's on the way!).

Melissa is still enjoying her riding and school.  She's been jumping without holding on (don't ask me why) and the name of her current mount is Crescent, a bay with 3 white socks.  She took part in a swimming gala last week with the school, competing in the 20, and 50m Freestyle (though why they call it that I don't know because you HAVE to swim front crawl!!) and 50 m Backstroke, in which she came 4th, so that was good.

We're planning a weekend away next weekend, probably to Taupo.  We were supposed to be meeting up with a few people in Napier, but that seems to be on hold for now, so we're just going away anyway.

My rock is now firmly emplanted in what I hope to be something along the lines of a Japanese contemplation garden we saw when visiting Hamilton Gardens...just pebbles and gravel, a big rock and some moss...I like low maintenance!

Here also are pictures of the Cicada tree, where they apparently go to shed their skin in our garden, which Karen wasn't able to put on when last she wrote.

and finally another pic of the kittens after the exploits of last week!

That's all folks....!

Steve
