At lastPosted on Thu 28 September 2006 at 05:02Well, here we are at last. We have said for about the last 4 years we would like to go to New Zealand, but Steve was still in the RAF and I was still doing my Nurse training. So we kept putting it off and off. We went to the NZ expo a couple of years ago and they said I would stand a better chance of getting a job if I waited a year and gained experience in this country, so that is what we did. In March this year I finally got round to filling in the Nursing Registration forms for NZ and that took months and lots of money but finally came back OK. From there it was relatively quick to get interviews and find a job. Then we put in the EOI, were accepted right away and as soon as possible, once we had the paperwork together, applied for residency. That took longer that we hoped as they queried our daughter's state of health - she has an overactive thyroid. It seemed like months but in fact was only 2 weeks. So after a frantic few weeks, we fly out on Monday 2nd October! We have spent the last few weeks going round the country saying our goodbyes. It has been bittersweet - lovely to catch up and see so many people but sad to leave them. Goodbye Shane, Mark and Darren (my sons), come and visit as soon as you can. Goodbye Shona (my sister)... actually I will stop naming everyone as I think I may start to cry.... Right, enough for the first post. More to follow! |
