The New AC cometh

About a month or so back our A/C unit started to show signs of tiredness so I get our man Leroy Mohammed Goldstein our a/c man to come and check it out, Its only about 8 years old but was a cheapy when installed and has never been that good, was always noisy...and of course it was only 10 seer...where the minimum now is 13 seer ....

Naturally it was beyond economical repair so the decision was made to replace the whole system including the air handler and the thermostat.. and at $3500 it had to be good  we also went up from 3 to 4 ton............

So fitting commenced two days later and we were soon back to super cool ...........................

Leroy ordered up a supa dupa thermostat which eventually got fitted last week..now here's the problem this bleedin thing is so advanced with touch screen and all, multiple programs can be set up in it to save on energy..even switches between heat and cool automatically  

So after a week of using it I can now manually adjust the temperature..... Anybody have an eight year old available to set it up for me .....

SALT-CHLORINE GENERATOR

The new pool Salt-Chlorine Generator was installed into the pool system last week and so far so good .....its kept it very clean and it does feel softer to swim in ..Early days .... but so far ..recommended...

Bleedin Staples ..

So Joycee takes the broken desk chair back to Staples last night ... I've had it for 11 months so I though she may get the base replaced ....that will of course take months to arrive and I can continue to use old faithful until then .... But Bleedin Staples had the audacity to just give her a completely brand new chair .... So ..poor old faithful is back in the closet and I'm in the new chair which has to be totally broken in again ...

And to cap it all .. she bought the three year extended warranty for $10 ..... bummer!!!

The Non-Cruise for me

So Joycee phoned me yesterday from work to tell me that her boss had given her a 4 days cruise to the Bahamas as a reward for a good month ....So I packed my little 4 day bag .. and put it by the front door ready to go ... Joycee get homes... "Whats that case for" she says.. "for the trip say I"... Oh !! didn't I tell you.. I am taking my mother with me ..not you ...

WANTED....... Aug 10th for 4 days ... live in housekeeper.. DUTIES..Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.....and a continous coffeepot.....

Good News ...

The new chair I was forced to have last Sept ..has had a wheel failure... I'm back in the good old comfortable one .... for a while ...

Chubby Checker

Last week Joycee took her mother for a night out to our local Dinner Theatre

to see Chubby Checker who I had though was long dead ...I of course could not go with them after the incident with the the chainsaw and her mother...  

Anyway just to say that they though it was a fabulous show... Chubby is no longer chubby

and at the ripe old age of 69 can still do all the moves...Joycee would recommend it to anyone ..

The new pool heater

The new pool heater got fitted and finished last week ..all fully automated ..bloody wonderful..

I can even adjust the temperature from the remote panel indoors...

US OLD PEOPLE IN THE USA

Can get a reduction on their car insurance with most Insurance Companies if we take an approved driving course.. the main one use is the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP)  55 alive driving course....

Its basically two session of 4 hours of mind numbing boredom sitting in a room with about 20 others ... No actual driving is involved ...

Joyce and I were the youngest on our course.. and we are both in our xxxxxxies and we have not a walker between us .. we were immediately seen as suspicious character invading their inner sanctum...

Now the Instructor is a volunteer named Fred ...nice man.. unfortunately his voice is of the one tone nature and to my ears just a droan that when on and on ..

During the session you are asked what would you do in a particular circumstance.. so I was asked what would you do if your saw a hitchiker on the road ... My answer was a simple

make sure its female with large breasts before you pick them up... this went down like a lead balloon and the room went silent ..not even a titter was heard... Fred with a dead straight face said No! the best thing to do is too ignore them and just drive on by ....I was never asked another question the rest of the course...

A bit later Joyce got the question I wanted about safety ..

You are in the Walmart car park just about to drive off  when a young man approaches your car.. and with hand signals he asked you to roll down your window.. what do you do??

Joyce replied "Roll down the window to see what he wants"  This brings a gasp from the rest of the class... So Fred says.. "As the young man gets to your car, he produces a knife and orders you out of the car"  Joyce calmly says " well thats easy ...I lift my .38 and blow his fucking head off "  The whole class goes apoplectic... Fred calm them all down .. and says No! the correct method would be to drive away to a safer place immediately ..

Joyce and I having a giggling attack at all the negative responses to her suggestion..and just as we all settled down again... another classmate 88 year old Shirley ..sitting behind us ..who had hardly said a word the whole session piped up with "I like Joyce's method ..I am going along with that one" pandemonium started up again ..

We got through the rest of the session with neither of us being asked any more question ..

And we got our certificates at the end without fanfare ...  

The course cost $10 each

You have to be 50 or over and an AARP member

we save $60 every six months on our Insurance for the next 3 years.

And then you take the course again .. 

Getting Behind

I am getting behind with my shopping blog so a quick catch up ..

A month back it was decided we need new chairs for the dinette ..why I don't know .

but it was decided ...Off we trot with my usual enthusiasm to the dinette shop ..

two minutes after entering I have picked the nicest one which of course were amazingly

similar to the old ones at $149 each..... Knowing the system that Joycee operates

I settled back in a nice chair to test it and wait an hour while she checks and tries every

one in the store... After I wake up I find 4 new chair picked and loaded in the van

nothing like we originally wanted of course ..but they were only $99 each ..

Then a few weeks back we had three friends arrive  from the UK ..to buy trucks and

vans to export back to the UK ..Much more interesting shopping.. Found what they

needed and they are on there way to the smoke .. They use them in the UK for a

few months then sell them... then six months later they will return for another one

using the profits to pay for a better one and to pay for the trip ..I of course charge a

reasonable room rental price why they are staying here..

So with the profits from the room rental its time for Rays shopping trip to the

Tampa Gun show .. We always take our friend eighty odd year old

Frankie (the slasher)Bandino with us as he like to reminisce about his younger

days and of course he has a disabled sticker in his car so we can have a 20ft

walk to the door instead of the mile for the youngsters..

Choices choices ..you are spoilt for choices there.. I ended up with a very nice

.357 magnum revolver to add to the collection.... Joycee had no say in it ..

It does happen sometimes ...

Joycee's birthday is coming up next month .. and I have got my eye on a nice

weed whacker (strimmer) for her.... I noticed she has been having trouble

starting the old one recently... Goddam!! that girl is so lucky having me..

Who else would have noticed that ....

In fact I may even lash out and get her a new blade for her edger as a bonus

gift ...
