| The drive down was a lot of fun, Steve and I had some fun on the roads. It was more bearable than I anticipated. We made three stops including food, toilet break, petrol (with our two cars we spent $1000 - but that is using 95 or 98) and dog break! The girls were very good, as was the dog. We only lost each other once, Steve had pulled over to wait for me because I was stuck behind a couple of trucks, I drove past him and kept going, he'd missed me pass him! But he caught up and the journey continued. One of his headlights blew, so with his fogs on, his three lights made him stand out and when we got bogged down in the mud recently 4wding, its loosened one side of the back of my reflecters, so I've got a wonky back!!! It made it easier for us to spot each other! It took us so long to pack up that we didn't arrive in welly until midnight. Steve and I were blurry eyed when we arrived and desperate to sleep. I had booked this accommodation so we anticipated something pretty dreadful on our arrival. Instead we turned up at a lovely little cottage, the lady had made the beds for us and put oil heaters on so it was warm for our arrival. She'd even put toys in the girls' rooms! How lovely! There were flowers on the table and the place is perfect for our short term stay. There is a little garden and an open fire which is wonderful to cosy up to at night. What a wonderful start! Moons was good as gold getting in her bed, she went straight to sleep. Pip on the other hand was a nightmare. She screamed all night and refused to sleep. Steve was dead to the world, so I stayed up with her. I've not felt that tired in such a long while, my eyes were burning to close. I used to LOVE long drives and Steve and I always used to argue about who would drive, but now for some reason, that joy has gone. Driving is just a means to an end. A long drive is bloody tiring, especially at night. No rest in the morning, we had back to back of house viewings. We found three houses that we liked. One that we LOVED. One house declined our application because of the dog, one house accepted our application and the one we LOVE which looks like a chalet (all wood) are debating our application with another. Last word was that she wasn't too worried about the dog. We need to find out this afternoon because the other house want us to sign the tenancy agreement. I do like the house, the property manager is lovely and we met the home owners, but the other has beautiful sea views and a lovely feel. Everyone has been incredibly friendly and helpful. We know we made the right decision! I've not been able to get hold of the guy from the tenancy tribunal to arrange our compensation. Its annoying still having this hanging over our heads. We still have this tie to the other property, not to mention we need our bond transfer for a new property. I hate having this still hanging over our heads. We've not had any time to explore yet, the girls have been stuffed in the car for hours on end, and Steve and I either have our heads stuck in maps or are on the phone. I dread to think what my mobile bill will be! Hopefully by the end of this week we'll know where we'll going to be, so we can look at schools, etc. I cant wait to start our new life here! |
