The ups and downs of our planned new life to NZ, warts and all!

Moons hospital appointmentTue 11 September 2007

Today we were expecting to visit the hospital so Moons could have her head scan.  I read the letter out and it stated the cardiac department??  I figured being a hospital, they'd know what it was all about.  When we arrived I explained we were awaiting a head scan.  They said, No.  No head scan referral had been received instead they were reviewing the hole in the her heart that had been identified when she was just a couple of months old.  So, a weird mistake by the hospital, we decided to stay and get her checked over, although we'd been told since that the hole had healed and she was fine.  As we awaited an argument broke out between a doctor and two member's of staff - a Nurse and cleaner!  The Doctor it seemed had obviously complained about flea bites.  The nurse and the cleaner guy were so rude to him.  They really patronised him and the Doctor said he didn't want to work there anymore!  They blocked the gangway so no one could get through, they didn't even move when I tried to push the pushchair around them.  I was FURIOUS!  These two idiots were speaking to this Doctor like an idiot, they even had the audicity to try and explain about flea bites!! He was far more educated than either of them, I can't believe he stood there and took it.  Being a childrens' ward, there were lots of parents holding they ill children and it made for a horrible atmosphere.  I ended up requesing the Manager to come down and said I wanted to make a formal complaint.  People complain about the NHS, but I've never seen anything like that in hospitals in the UK.  Fancy an argument between staff about fleas no less.  Anyway, back to Moons!  She had an ecg, then a scan.  The hole is still there, but its not big enough to cause any alarm or warrant surgery, but we were told she wouldn't be allowed to scuba dive when she was older because of the pressure.  Hope I can remember that in twenty odd years!

We'd been hunting for boxes around the local area for our packing but had no luck, until I went into to ask at Mitre10 and the guys said I could use their own boxes!  YAY! I can't believe we move in TWO days and we've not even started!!  We just keep putting it off because packing is such a NIGHTMARE!  Although we're excited about the move, I would rather dump everything and buy it all in Wellington.  We've moved so many times and I'm fed up of it!  We've arranged a short term holiday rental while we try and find something longer term.  We've already arranged a few appointments for our arrival.  A few estate agents said they'd help us look, but we've found more ourselves!

Driving into Auckland was a nightmare and as usual we encountered the usual rude and obnoxious people, which I know we won't competely escape in Wellington, but I think it'll be less!  Can't wait to get down there!  Feeling irritable and restless at the moment because of the impending stress, we've not notified the post office in enough time, so we'll miss some post, and I'm sure we've forgotton so much, its all happened so quickly.

Anyway, Steve is addicted to Facebook at the moment and he's driving me up the wall with his new found infatuation.  He's just added a new quiz application which is making him mumble and click constantly, so I feel like twisting his head around until his neck snaps.  Time to move away!
