The ups and downs of our planned new life to NZ, warts and all!

I'm in L*O*V*E with Wellington!Sun 2 September 2007

Steve and I arrived at our accommodation , it was extra special.  Steve had gone all out and booked an awesome apartment for our stay in Welly with a double spa bath (!) because he said he wanted this reccie to be special and smooth sailing.  We popped into the local town and I fell in love with the place.  Beautiful little town, all the shops were made with logs, so it looked like something in Canada.  Everyone was SO friendly and I told Steve - I want to live here!  Next day we headed towards Wellington City, the drive was AWESOME.  Breathtaking scenery, mountains, beaches, rolling hills.  I felt so happy.  We got stuck in house hunting and everyone was really friendly and helpful.  We found some beautiful areas and I felt happy to live anywhere.  I just can't believe the difference between Auckland and Wellington.  Even the drivers were more curterous!  The sun shone everyday and I felt really sad when we had to leave.  We found one property which we really liked and the dates worked for us, most of the houses weren't available for months away!  But we're not sure if they'll accept the dog.  We're not too concerned though, we know that in two weeks we'll move there and look around for the perfect house - I have no doubt that we'll find it.  Things really do happen for a reason.  I'm so excited about our move to Welly.  I have absolutely no doubts about the place whatsoever.  Driving back to Auckland was a nightmare, we hit really bad traffic.  People are frustratingly rude and inconsiderate on the road.  It rained!  I can say 100% that Auckland is not the place for me.  Besides all the stress we've had here, Wellington feels much more like a home to me.  There is so much I want to explore and I saw the tip of the South Island (I waved to 'wiznton') and I felt a rush of actually being excited about our life.  Of wanting to do things.  AND, we actually had a run of good luck while we were there!  It just shows that when you're feeling positive and happy - good things happen.  YAY!  Wellington ROCKS!
