The ups and downs of our planned new life to NZ, warts and all!

Took Moons to hospital last nightTue 7 August 2007
Last night I was relaxing with a glass of wine, OK, a bottle , it was about 10pm.  Steve had been on a conference call and he came down and poured himself a wine, he didn't have a chance to drink it because we suddenly heard Moons screaming.  Its so unusual for her to wake in the night, and if she does, its usually serious, vomiting and a temperature, etc.  We bolted into her room and she was screaming that her head hurt.  She's been complaining of a headache for the last week, the last time was when her temp was 40c, I'd called Healthline and they said she was probably dehydrated, to maintain the temperature and not to worry.  Last night we were really worried.  She didn't want to look at the light, she was lethargic and in so much pain. Then she started vomiting.  I did the usual meningitis checks, no temp, she could put her chin to her chest, no rash on the body, but the pain she was in really unnerved us.  We took her straight to the Kids hospital in the city.    Steve dropped us off outside so he could find a park.  Moons just stood there vomiting, it took a while before we could go inside.  She saw the triage nurse first ,who wasn't the friendliest, warmest nurse I've ever met.  Moons just kept on vomiting in her little bucket and crying.  She wanted to sleep, but it was too bright for her.  We waited nearly two hours to see the Doctor, she was really nice.  She suggested it could be a migraine because I suffer with them.  She said her tonsils were swollen as well.  They gave her some strong pain medication and within half an hour, the vomiting had stopped and she seemed much better, it was an incredible transformation.  They also wanted a urine sample, but it was 2am, we were all exhausted, there weren't any beds available - not too disimiliar from the UK! We decided to take a sample later in the day and head home.  She's booked for an MRI on Thursday morning just to check her brain out.  This morning she seems brighter, the pain medication seemed to enable her to have a good night's sleep.  I can't believe my little girl is probably going to be a migraine sufferer.  She's such a tough cookie, but this last month has really taken it out of her.  The asthma medication is definetly working, she coughs a lot less and doesn't have coughing fits during the night, so we are slowly fixing her up.  Pip seems a lot better, she's still on her antibiotics, and her eczema is pretty awful again but last night, considering she was dragged out of her cot, she was very happy to be part of it all!  My poor babies.
