So, my confidence has taken a nice boost since entering into the world of work. I've sent my CV off to a few jobs that sound interesting. I've been shortlisted for three interviews already! One I had today, I had to book the morning off work. When I arrived there was a board of four women waiting for me. I quite enjoyed the question/answer session! One of the board was a Maori woman and I greeted her by saying, 'Kia ora' as I shook her hand. I'm really proud of myself for showing cultural respect and I think she appreciated the gesture. I got thinking about how important it was that I did that and ended up missing a lot of what another woman said! haha! Anyway, I went with it and they seemed to like me. Not sure if I'll get that job, a huge part of it is analytical stuff - more Steve's area of expertise, so someone like Steve will probably go in and they'll opt for that person, but I don't mind. It felt so good to be invited to the interview and be part of that whole process. When I arrived back at the temp job - a lot of people made comments about me wearing a suit. That was uncomfortable, Friday is dress down day in the office. Although its a temp job, I feel awkward about looking for other work, they've accepted me as part of the team, its clear the position would be open to me full time and its taken me some time to build up the trust and respect of my work peers. But this temp job certainly isn't a career move for me, it does get quite tedious at times.
I have another job interview tomorrow morning, unusual on a Saturday but she's working and its not too far away. Another interview is lined up for July 25 and its a role that I'm really interested in, the interview is with a board (I've been forwarned) and its going to take at least three hours! So I booked leave for that day. Its a role that I'm really interested in.
I would love to be in a role that I really enjoy and I'm passionate about.
On the downside, we've had all sorts of people turning up at our property. Its a long story, but in short, there's an orchid on the property, the real estate agent told us it probably wouldn't be used, but it turns out that there is a five year lease in place. The company intend to do what the hell they like (A manager turned up to tell Steve). Various other bodies have just driven down our drive and we've had to enquire about that. Its just ridiculous. I'm fed up with this rental situation. We really are treated like second class citizens. I love this house, but its going to be difficult when summer arrives and the orchid is active. Some woman turned up today to check on her weird bees that are in the field near the house (but still on our property!) we didn't even know they were there!! Our rental experiences are like being a spoof show! God I hope we can buy soon.
Anyway, its Friday, yay! Time for a large glass of red! |
