The ups and downs of our planned new life to NZ, warts and all!

Could it be that things are turning around for us?Fri 25 May 2007
So, the last couple of days we have visited our new home.  We feel really feel at peace there. Not sure if its because the last people that lived there were a family and not tennants, or if its because we have such an awesome property management person that seems really on to it.  Its has a beautiful garden, with mandarin trees, fruit trees of different kinds.  Steve picked a couple of mandarins off, and they were really nice.  We sat on the deck near the pool, which looks really inviting!  We just wished we could move in tomorrow.  Its a lot smaller then we have now, still five bedrooms, but its all more contained and it feels more family orientated.  Our room will be upstairs, so tucked away from the girls, but the living spaces aren't so distanced and because the yard is fenced, Moons can play quite happily, well unless she gets near the pool that is.  Today the sun was shining and we felt very relaxed.  I called the real estate that moved us into this property to see if we could bring it forward when we moved out, but our landlord refused.  We said he still hadn't fixed anything and had therefore breached a working order, not to  mention has made us live with a flooded bathroom which is a huge health and safety issue and because the carpet has moulded near the bathroom it gets quite smelly.  She really seems to feel for us and agrees that this is an unfair situation.  She said she'd call the landlord who agreed to fix the bathroom this afternoon, but he called as we got home to cancel on us.  We don't care anymore, if he wants the place to rot that's up to him.  I can't stress about it anymore.  Anyway, I'd been emailing this really nice woman about some puppies she is getting rid of on good old trademe!  She's really nice, and today we went to her parents farm to see the dogs.  My god, they're beautiful and the people were the warmest and friendliest I have met for a long time.  Its wonderful to meet people like that, a real blessing.  It restores your faith in humanity.  We just basked in their presence and enjoyed playing with the pups, who were so wonderfully looked after.  Steve fell in love with Cheeky!! He said she was perfect straight away, I was shocked!! Its not like to him to be like that, he's usually the reserved one!  So it looks like we're going to have Cheeky!! We're trying to decide when to get her.  We did want an older dog, but we're so taken with Cheeky's family and the idea of being able to train a pup from the start and she can grow used to our family and our ways, as our daughters can learn about how to be around a dog.  We both seem more relaxed today, can we believe that things might actually be turning around for us now?  God I hope so.  I think we could do with an easier time!
