Today was "Bring A Friend" day at skating class.  I brought my sister Linda.  It had been 20 years since she last ice skated, but she was anxious to give it a try after all these years.  Keep in mind that I'm 50 and Linda is 64.  And here we are with a bunch of little kids and young adults in skating classes at the rink.  It was sooooo much fun!!  Linda had to use the walker at first, but soon found her ice feet again.  By the end of the hour, she was skating around really well!  She said that was just about the time she was feeling balanced and good again, it was all coming back to her, and she was having the time of her life!  Unfortunately we couldn't stay on the ice longer than an hour, and there was no public skating at the rink over that weekend, otherwise we would have returned Sunday to practice again!  I'm so glad she went with me, it was a wonderful day, and such a fun new thing to do together!  I can't wait to go skating together again next time she's in town!!

As for me that day, I was given some new things to practice:

• Backwards skating, shifting balance from one foot to the other, and picking the free foot up off the ice.
• Doing a two-foot spin but lifting one foot up off the ice to get into doing a one-foot spin.
• Practice the Mohawk turn away from the wall.
• Crossovers going clockwise.
