Our First Entry - The Hopeful Start to our Canadian Journey.

To start with, we have been lurking in the forums for about a year, digesting all the valuable information.

We decided to start a blog as a way of planning/plotting/reviewing our journey

A Bit of Background

We currently live in the North West in Manchester,

Chris is a claims adjuster for an insurance company
Ally works in health care as a monitoring analyst

We met at university some 6 years ago now and are both mid-late 20 somethings!

Why Canada?

Hard to say where the idea to look into emigration came from. I suspect it was while we was in Mexico after a few lemon daqouris! We spoke to some Canadians and decided to do some research when we got home!

We quickly learnt that emigration is a very expensive deal so set about cutting back on spending and get some savings behind us, it was amazing how successful it was and how much we were spending before now we had a goal!

At this point we knew that Chris' occupation was on the FSW 2010+2011 list but our goal wasn't to risk doing such a life changing move without a job ready!

So fast forward to July 2012, our goal is to keep saving and while we are still eligible to apply for IEC 2013 when it opens. We think this is the best option as it will give us 1 year to decide if Canada is for us.

We don’t hold any fantasy that Canada is a utopia or that there are not Moss Side's in Vancouver, Toronto etc. But make no mistake we really do hope we find a city and a country which we will learn to have fun in and love oh and an employer willing to sponsor a TWP or PNP!!!

But after a few years in Manchester, we are wanting some adventure while we have nothing to hold us back (children, mortgages, family etc.)

So this is the start of what we hope will be a enjoyable and rewarding year that will be our roadmap to our goal!

Goal for the next 3 months!

Research! Research! Research!
Keep saving!
Relax and enjoy what we have here!
Chris to try and start some networking with the Insurance Institute of Canada though to UK CII.
Try and be slightly more active on the forum!

You are pretty much at the same stage as us. Research, research, research. My head hurts with the thought of it all. We are in Southport, not far from you, but have two kids. Suppose we ought to get saving and as you said, get that job offer.
