I'm a Canadian First Aider

I was on a St John Ambulance course yesterday and I've completed a first aid course passed with 91%, Woo Hoo.

I feel quite confident to use it as well without the fear that I might get sued if I help someone, you know the stories you hear.  I have a legal obligation at work to help any one there either my boss, fellow co-workers or customers now.  If I am outside of work it is up to me if I want to help someone, but apparently the government of Canada wants to encourage people to help others so they recognise the Good Samaritan Principles.  These principles will protect me if I choose to help someone who may be dying or in trouble as long as I use reasonable skill and care based on my level of training.

I learnt First Aid in England and it was exactly what I learnt there, and I remembered most of it, which is good.  We were also shown how to use a defibrillator but the only provinces I am allowed to use them is in BC, Alberta and Northern Territories anywhere else in Canada I can be sued even though I am trained to be able to use one.

I took the Emergency First Aid - Level A CPR and AED and contemplating doing the second part, its really quite interesting and your knowledge could really save someone, especially when you are in Canada, the country is so vast.

Neil's police report came through so we will be sorting out the PR application on Sunday and doing the finishing touches and getting it all sent off and out of our hair.  Oh we need to wait for the employer letter, bugger and the new work permits with the new company name just when I thought we could get things moving.

I took some pictures the other day with the new camera so I'll upload them when I have the time and by the way five months today we've been in Edmonton, time flies eh.
