The Inland Revenue

Why is it that I can say them few words and I feel like giving up already.  They made a complete cock up of my contributions when I owned my own company.

To cut a long story short, I made myself exempt because my company wasn't earning enough then when I closed down the buisness my husband and I decided to pay in a voluntary contributions for myself.  Well when we were at the closing stage of going to Canada by this I mean two weeks to go,  I found out that I had still been paying contributions as if I was still self employed.

I know it was their mistake because during the whole time I had my business I was exempt like I have just stated and when you file in your tax return you can state that you have closed down your business.  They swore that they were never informed which is wrong, you have to by law.  If I hadn't informed them they would still have been asking for a Tax Return each of them years (they do lie or the person on the end of the phone has no idea what they are talking about)  To say I was angry is an understatement, I was furious.

So I couldn't start my Social Security Abroad until I received a cheque from the Inland Revenue for the false payments and now I have missed out on THREE whole years of contributions which is a bit of a pain!  I could always back pay it, or miss it out.  My hubby says you can miss so many years and it doesn't effect your end contribution amount, so I'm undecided.

Another thing that gets to me about the Inland Revenue is that when you start paying into your  National Insurance Contributions it starts on a date for them not for you, they don't warn you.   I'm not sure if it is August so lets say you started paying in on October all these payments until August are not included, they always start from a particular month.  This is so unfair, money grabing English Government! (alright  most governments are, but it made me feel better slagging them off)

So I am now sat down typing this blog, I've received my cheque from the revenue I sent the form off 18th December so not bad going for them is it and I am now looking at a lovely orange leaflet from the Inland Revenue called Social Security Abroad, Natonal Insurance Contributions Series, NI 38. Here's the link if you are wanting it yourself http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/pdfs/nico/ni38.pdf

Canadian Cold

Yes I have my first Canadian cold, not much different to an English one really

I have suffered though, I had a day off work yesterday not ill it was my day off.  It was spent with snot running out of my nose all day, now I have a very painful nose that looks very red and scabby.  I am dreading putting makup on later as I have to go to work.

Most of my aches and pains have gone and I am trying to keep watered.  As ever I am still very much loking forward to going into work.  Bring it on!

Revenue Canada or whatever it is called these days ain't a heck of a lot better. Hubby still files Canadian taxes annually and has an accountant that does it for him and still they get it wrong. Still waiting for them to correct their error made on the 2006 taxes.
