Probally not enough money for the trip, now. Update.

This is an updated blog entry. Please scroll down.

We are dying to get to them mountains, just a short ski trip of about three days to try and get it out of our systems.  Oh and to try out our new ski stuff, it will be the first time we have even skied without getting them nasty rentals.  We are looking at going as soon as Neil fnishes on Christmas Eve but if we can't then it will be a few days after Christmas.

We've never been to Jasper before and we have been told it is a lot less commercial than Banff.  Who cares about the town anyway, I want the mountain.  Marmont Basin looks quite good and it will take us at least 3 and half hours to drive to Jasper from Edmonton.

I've short listed two hotels at the moment, nothing fancy.  I have also been looking at the local guest houses and Bed and Breakfasts.  I'm going to have a few days reseaching trip advisor and hopefully I will come up with something as I am a little picky about these things.

The Update

I feel as though someone has come up to me and kicked me in the stomach.  Am I starting to see the down side of all this now?  Neil was phoning around for car insurance today and one of the companies has stated that he needs to fill out a form.  They would not proceed with a telephone quote.

Neil started to worry and asked me to ask the good folk on BE for help so I dd.  I also went on the internet to see what the figures were popping up.  That's when I really did feel sick,  the quotes are showing up as $3,503 and $3,774 in English Stirling these figures are around 1,856 and 1,999.  This is just for Neil to drive not even starting to include me.

I feel really sick about it as it is cheaper for us to loose our $1,000 depost and rent a car, our rental for two weeks was only $760 with full walk away insurance.

I'm having to dash off now as we need to change over our driving licences and try to figure out a way through this.  We are surposed to be picking the car up tomorrow , oh god......... I just can't think about it.

Ouch!

No useful advice here, just glad I read your blog and can prepare for that unexpected sting! Am I to assume that 'no claims' means nothing over there? Or, are you and Neil in fact very bad drivers with a history? Hmmmm....
