The Church Play

What was it like, well here goes.....

After we had our tea and washed up it was about time to go as the play started at 7pm.  We were wondering as we crossed the road what the evening had in store for us.  We walked through the doors and there was a lady that greated us and told us which way to go.  We asked to go to the Kitchen as this is where our Landlady and Landlord said they were going to be as they help out at this Church.

We found them and had a little chat, I had wrote out a Christmas card for them and they showed us where to go to watch the show.  I don't know what I was expecting but when I saw the room I just thought WOW it was more like a theatre room than a Church.

The production was really good., funny and quite moving in parts.  Very well written and the songs had me tapping my feet.

I will try to explain the story, it was based around a guy and his new girlfriend they have only just been dating for two years.  The guys wife and son died in a road accident three years ago, a car crash caused by a drink driver.  The guy had lost his faith in God  and he was full of hate and anger because of it and also didn't give himself the chance to grieve properly.  On the other hand his mother was a firm believer in God, which used to wind up her son.  This guy had a daughter but she didn't get on with the new girlfrind and the girlfriend didn't really like the young girl.  The guy had bought tickets for a cruise for him, his girlfrind and his parents.  During the cruise the daughter is left with the grandparents and the grandfather tells his grandaughter all about Jesus and the Christmas Story of him being born.  Over this time the guy and his girlfrind annouce their engagement to which the daughter isn't very happy about.  We also learn that the grandfather has lung cancer and during this trying time the grandmother prays to god.  In he end the guy and his girlfriend go there seperate ways and the dad and daughter become whole again and the guy also decided to give God a second chance.

At the end everyone stood up and started clapping.

After the production had finished we were given tickets for the cafe afterwards where you have coffee and cake.  I had one of the best Cheesecakes since I've been here.  Some other people joined us at our table and we had a chat with them.  I told them one of the Candian jokes I'd learnt.

What's the difference between a Canadian and a Canoe,     a Canoe Tips (Boom Boom)  They laughed and we had good fun with them.  Unfortunatley they couldn't stop long and left, I think our landlady saw that we were on our own again and she introduced us to another table which were her own personal friends.

We had a good chat with these new guys and one of them even discribed Neil and I as a cute couple.  They also asked if we attended the church but I said in the nicest possible way that we don't attend Church at all and we were invited by our landlady.   After about half hour some of them had to leave as it as getting on 10pm and what with work the next day.  We were left chatting to a couple who gave us there contact number before they had to leave, which was really nice of them.

All in all it was one of the best nights out we have had, it was what I was expecting Neil's work do to be like but it wasn't.  We need to be getting a telephone as people keep asking us for our  number but we still haven't got one.

Our landlady said she was going to be dropping off a hoover for us tonight, which Neil thought was quite funny.  She seems to be very up on being clean and keeping things tidy.  I nearly asked her if she could bring us over a couple of breakfast chairs as I don't want to buy anything as I know we have stuff coming.

We seem to be networking pretty well.  I thought we were going to be roped into attending Church and to be honest the pastor at the end was trying to get people to attend with a lttle speach after.

I would quite like to go to another production if and when that happens.  It also left me wanting to go to the threatre again, I forgot how good they are.
