Home Sweet Home
I was so glad to get out of the hotel I knew I would hate it. It looks as though we can hop onto a local wireless network here not ideal but ok for Expats and Skype. There is a major retail store just a few mins away so it must have someting to do with that.
So last night was our first night in our home, for at least six months anyway. At the moment I'm happy here, I came to Canada with the intensions to stay open minded and that is how I am going to be. We purchashed an airbed yesterday and I had got some bedding the other day and some nicer curtains then the ones that were here.

It think it is looking pretty good for an airbed, we are going to hold out for the sales until we make any major purchases. I would like to get some curtains for the lounge as well, it helps to make it feel more like our taste.
We were out as I said buying a few things we needed and I also managed to make Neil an English style stew. I was going to make a hotpot but got talking to the folks on Skype and giving them a tour of our apartment. So I ended up just putting choped veg and meat into a pot and seeing how it all turned out . Neil liked it and it looks as though we will be eating it for the next two nights so its a good job really.
Its -15 here today and I am dying to get something Christmassy up, I purchased some outdoor lights the other day so I am going to strap them to the balcony soon after I have finished catching up with everyone.
I got talking to one of my neighbours yesterday and she has invited me round to her apartment for a tea/coffee or chat. I will be keeping her to that when I get sorted. I think Neil is finding it slightly difficult to get to know his work collegues as he has an office of his own and very rarely gets the opportunity to get out of it. I think it might be down to me to get networking with people. Neil is quite shy in new situations and finds it hard to have general chit chat with people. Me on the other hand I can talk and talk and talk, I am never lost for words.

My office, do you like my desk its a carboard box (I look a bit trampy but these are my house clothes)

Neil's is the better one.
I want to go out the the shops again today and get one or two more things as this is the last full day we have the hire car as it has to go back tomorrow. (which I'm not happy about) We will have to get a car it just isn't ideal to be here without one.
I managed to get the washer working in the apartment, I was quite nervous about using it at first but its quite easy so I am going to wack it all in the dryer now giving each item a shake beforehand and I should be able to pull them all out without having to iron which is just great. |
