You've got to laugh or you would cry
I wonder why when you say the word Solicitor people react in a certain way. At the moment when I think of the word solicitor it is making my blood boil........ why? well here you go since you asked I'll tell you.
Any regular reader of my blog should know the story well and if you don't just take a look at this House selling HELL also Offer made on house
Anyway moving on. I received the Land Registry updated copy of my land boundries yesterday morning so I left phoning the solicitors until after 2pm, because of 'dinner hour'. My solicitor is off for the week and I have been assigned to another solicitor to deal with matters while she is away. So I tephoned the office and asked someone to call me to see if they have recieved their copy from the Land Registry and to get things moving again.
I was informed that someone would call me back so I left it. It got on to about 4:30pm and I was thinking that I hadn't heard anything back from the solicitors. I decided to give them a call back and the lady at the other end of the phone said 'didn't you call before' I told her that she was correct but no one had phoned me back. She then informed me that no one would be able to deal with me today and I would have to wait until tommorrow. Normally I am a bit of a push over and would have left it but she made me feel like a bit of a fool. So I informed her that the person who took my call didn't state this fact and if I was told this then I would never had called again.
I'm sat at my computer now looking at the time 12:07noon and still no phone call. I never know what to do in these situations. How funny that was the phone rang and it was the solicitor. Apparently my solicitors husband had an operation and has been off for a week and a half. He said they have recieved the information and they are going to send a copy of the information to their solicitors I stressed to this guy that I want them to send out a suggested completion date of 31st October as well.
He said it is up to the buyer and I said that it would at least get the ball rolling for a completion date so after a small battle he said he would dictate another letter with this date on. Why do they move at such snail pace. Time is of the essence for us now and I also know that my buyer wants to move in. If this letter doesn't get to my buyers solicitors tommorrow then I will have to wait another week for a completion date as solicitors always seem to want to complete on a Friday.
Between Me, my Estate Agent and my Buyer we all seem to be doing all the pushing and the solicitors just think it is all a big joke! I know that sorting a house sale is probally not a great big job to them and doesn't bring in the big bucks but for the buyers and sellers out there its a bloody nightmare. Waiting is horrible and especially in this house selling climate we are in today its extra stress that can be avoided.
The hubby also pointed out the other day that he has been looking at the effect on the Stirling against the Canadian Dollar. Do I really need anything else in the pot to worry about, please.
Cassie, stay calm....... I think we are nearly there.

The Estate Agents phoned me today to let me know that the buyers solicitor has received all the information in the post this morning. Yesterday I wrote that I wanted my solicitor to put a suggested completion date in the letter, I received a copy of this letter in the post this morning and he didn't even do it! What an IDIOT!
My Estate Agent said that the buyers solicitor would try and look at everything today if she could but failing that she would look at it on Monday. Please Please Please let there be good news to write soon I wanted the 31st deadline but I don't think I am going to get it.

I always stand corrected if I'm wrong so here goes, the solicitor is not an idiot. It appears that he did do a letter asking for the 31st October deadline that I requested. The letter arrived in the post this morning so hopefully things can start moving on Monday.

We we are now on Tuesday and still we have heard nothing, I was hoping that if I start complaining about it on my blog than I would hopefully hear something by the end of the day and then I would have embarrassed myself for nothing. (There is a logic to this plan believe me)
I called my solicitor yesterday as she is back but she never got back to me! All I want is someone to say something positive to me, to give me some sort of hint at when the buyer wants to move in. I was in the Estate Agents this morning and I couldn't hold back the tears of fustration, yes...... I was crying to the Estate Agents how sad is that.
I know that I should be lucky that I have a buyer and really I do appreciate it, but...... without the signed contract does it really mean anything?
Neil and I had an argument last night, my normally positive husband, that is cool, calm and collected started to show cracks. If he is starting to be negitive it worries me, really really worries me. I told him that he can't be negative and he said back 'sorry Cassie but I'm finding it really hard to stay positive, does he want the house or not'
On top of all this my solicitor has Wednesdays off, so if nothing happens today then roll on another week which I am not very happy about.
Neil phoned me this morning to ask if I have attempted to called the solicitor again but I just don't have the strength, he decided to give it a try. Its such a draining situation to be in, it takes every little hope you have left to be positive. I'm tired, deflated, and feel beaten.
There's the rant over fingers crossed my evil plan has worked and I hear something back today.

We've received the transfer deed in the post this morning so I'm going to get Neil to sign it tonight and go to the solicitors and pass it on by hand to avoid any more time wasted in the snail mail. |
