Festivals, Bottle Depots and other random stuff

You don't see me for ages then I'm typing another entry the next day.

We've been up to loads and i've forgot to update you lot, the shame!

Capital Ex

We went to Capital Ex on Saturday, it cost $10 each to get in.   I took some photos using my iphone and not the fancy camera, the iphone has no zoom which is a shame.

Let me see if I can download them off onto my computer, I've never done this before.  Oh wow it worked.

Me in an Indy Car playing a computer game.

We went to see a show it was fantastic.  No extra cost to see it.  It was some Chinese performers and they were really good.  I didn't think Neil was going to enjoy the show but in the end he was keen to watch the next show.  We didn't though.

This is part of the show where this young girl stacked lots of chairs one on top of the other then at the end balanced on one hand at the top!!!!! eeeek.

This is a horrible blurred picture and I feel ashamed to even post it, there is about ten people on one bike.  I have no idea how they managed it.

This is a sandcastle but the sand was really drying out and making it even harder for these guys, it was such a hot day, 30 degrees C.

I thought I'd better get on a ride, Neil loves stuff like this but I'm a bit of a chicken when it comes to rides, and I'm from Blackpool!   I choose this one because I thought it was 'tame' I came off feeling very sick.

They had horseracing going on as well.  As a matter of fact there was lots for all the family to do it was quite a fun day out.  We were wondering if this is were the Rodeo Finals are held?

I'm just going to sneek a picture in of my homemade lamb curry with pineapple and cashew nuts, with far too many potatoes.

Bottle Depot

We've lived here for nearly eight months now and we have only started to go to the Bottle Depot.  I know that's really bad isn't it.  Out here in Canada if you don't already know when you buy drink you will get an enviromental charge added.  Any tetra cartons, milk cartons, wine bottles, anything that a drink comes in don't bin.  You can go along to a Bottle Depot and claim your money back.

We took only a few things to see and got back $3.15, Neil was very pleased with himself and when we got back to the car he said  "why have we never done this sooner, Cassie?"  With that look on his face.  The smell inside the place is bad! and I mean bad it bloody hums of stale beer it was just horrible.

So now we have seperate boxes for the stuff we recycle, send to the Bottle Depot and our usual trash.

Taste of Edmonton

We went there last night at Churchill Sq, its on until 1st August I think.  It's great you go get tickets $1 each and there are resturants from around the city that set up booths.  They have two meal items each, Neil and I generally share we take it in turns to pick our choices.

There's all sorts of stuff, mini burgers, Indian curries, Chinese etc etc.

I liked it even more because I didn't have to cook last night.  I've found an Indian that I want to try out now their Buttered Chicken was to dye for.  Its like Chicken Korma is to the English, Buttered Chicken seems to be a popular dish with the Canadians.

We still have some more tickets so we'll go later on in the week.

Showhomes

We also went looking at Showhomes the other day we won't be buying anything until our PR comes through as I never think that is wise.

There are some really nice homes out there, you just fall in love with them.  We are starting to find out which homes we are liking and which ones to stay away from.

I can't wait to get out of rented accomodation, especially with it being a Condo.  The noise is more the issue, watching what level your music is at and trying not to bang anything on the floor.

I think you are all quite uptodate with my life here in Edmonton.  I'm just going to look and see if there are any Indy Car tickets left for the race on Sunday.  It might be worth going this year because it might be the last.  Not sure if it is connected to the City Centre Airport closing or not.

I might nip to Calllingwood Farmers Market and get some of that very tasty BC fruit.

When I have some new stuff to blog I promise to upload it right away and not leave it for ages.  Before I go I'll upload a picture I took with my iphone of Lake Payto, I thought it was quite a good picture for a phone.
