Road Trip to Vancouver - Day One

0km to 755km's = 755km's in total

I'm hoping that I'm going to get to the end of this entry and it will upload, the signal strength at our Motel isn't very good.

We leftt Edmonton at 9:30am this morning and set off down the Yellowhead, passing through Hinton and Jasper.  We didn't have to pay the entrance fee for the National Park because we were just passing through on Highway 16 which was fantastic.  Neil was also very pleased.

We drove past the ever fantastic Rocky Mountains on Highway 16 and had to stop for gas at Mount Robson.  As most of you know by now I was in theme, Cowgirl Shirt, Hat and Boots, Neil likes me dressed like this and says I look cute.  I got a Tim Hortons from Edmonton before we left and not one person gave me a funny look, it was quite normal.

As I was saying we stopped for gas and as Neil got out I was aware of a young man in his early thirties laughing at our direction, it took a couple of seconds to think "are they laughing at me?"  There was this lad and his mate and a girl, the girl turned to look in my direction and started laughing as she had had her back to me.  I make a point to stare straight back at them, why the hell should they make me feel funny!

I was a little puzzeled with what was sooooo amuzing to them.  Neil wanted a toilet and so did I and in order to get to it it mean't walking past these jerks.  As I got out of the car one said "oh lord!" then they all started laughing.  We had only just crosed over the boarder into BC I'm not that out of place!  Anyone would have thought I had two heads they way they were carrying on, so childish.  I like my outfit and don't give two monkeys what anyone has to say it just makes me so angry.  Do I have to look like everyone else with their perfectly straight hair, skinny jeans and high heals so not get laughed at?

I also took a picture of the locals before we just left Alberta.  We did see two moose and a baby bear but a big lorry was up our cars bum so couldn't stop.

The one thing you notice when you drive into British Columbria is how green it is, it's so so green.  Not just one shade of green but lots and lots.  It is that green it reminded us of the English Country Side.

We were going to stop in Valemount which is on Highway 5 but I insisted we had to head to the next biggest place and said lets stop at Clearwater but when we got there, there didn't seem to be anywhere to stop, there was no motels about and I started to regreat not stopping at the Super Eight or Best Western we had just left behind in Valemount.  Neil had packed us a sleeping bag just in case the worst happened.

I'm from Blackpool, Lancashire.  I was so made up about seeing this sign we both had to have a picture next to it.

We found a great little Motel in Barriere just North of Kamloops and we are heading off towards Vancouver early in the morning.  When we checked into our Motel before I noticed a British Columbia Approved Accomodation Guide and grabbed it.  I don't think I'm liking this whole unplanned Road Trip after all, but now I have backup.

I'll update you tomorrow, Night Night.
