We went to Banff for the weekend skiing and my Birthday falls on the Alberta holiday called Family Day which is a little annoying because apparently its "Blackout week" this means that there are no discounts, we have a season pass to Rabbit Hill and we would have been allowed 20% off the price.
The ski was good we went to Sunshine on the Saturday and Lake Louise on the Sunday. They haven't had snow over there for the past four weeks and you could tell. Sunshine isn't as powdery as it should be and Lake Louise has ice on the slopes in places.
God I hate it when you get caught on ice, I managed to get caught up on one slope. I was skiing down and noticed a big patch of ice but it was too late, I tried to turn but managed to skid and turn backwards and was going down....... backwards. I managed to stop myself by almost doing the splits . We went down the same run a little later and managed to ski down the same patch of ice, I have no idea why I did that, Neil was laughng at me but I managed to sort myself out.

Sunshine Village

Roller Coaster is fun at sunshine, its not really a piste its a narrow pathway with bumps down it hense the name. I never go all the way down it fast as you can loose control quick. So yes I'm a bit of a chicken and stop in parts.
There was a young lad and his mates going down really fast when one of them fell, no joke the bang I heard when he went down it must have really hurt. I think he winded himself. We asked if he was alrght but I think he also damaged his pride as he went down.

Neil on the slopes
We didn't really take a lot of pictures as both days we were there it was quite overcast. We got lots of skiing in and that's the main thing. Both Neil and I have talked about going to Vancover skiing, there is a train that leaves from Edmonton and we thought it would make a nice trip across the country.

The backside of Lake Louise

The drive home, I love the Rockies they always make me smile (Only when they have snow) |
