We've arrived.

I was a very long day yesterday and I am sat in our hotel room typing away to you guys while my hubby is fast asleep on the bed.

Well I think its about time for an update.

Going to the airport

That morning was not a good morning at all.  I didn't want to go because I couldn't stop kissing the dog and telling him how sorry I was about leaving him.  When he was looking at me it was as if he kind of knew we were leaving him.  I felt horrible.

Neil was calling me from downstairs so I had to give him one last kiss and just go.

As I made my way downstairs Neil and his mum were cuddling I could tell she was crying but I didn't want to say anything as I thought I would break down as well.  I thought she was going to the airport with us but it turned out she couldn't do it.  I felt really bad about this as it made me look very ignorant.  Had I have known she wasn't going I would have said goodbye.

We drove to go and pick my mum up and then we made our way to the airport.  The traffic was really bad and we kept on getting held up but we made it there in the end.

After we checked in our bags we said goodbye to Neil's dad and my mum, that goodbye wasn't too bad.

We had a few flights, Manchester to London, then London to Calgary and the final one was Calgary to Edmonton.

Work Permits

We were quite tired when we got to Calgary and this is where the fun began.  We waited in line at the immigration section then we got called up.  The guy says to us "what brings you here to Canada" and Neil says "to emigrate" then the guy says "no your not"  I thought what the hell is he going on about.

Its one of the worst things I have ever experienced, its like being in the headmasters office at school when you have done something wrong.

In the end after a few questions and this guys funny looks he issues us with our two year work permits with a smile at the end and a "I hope you guys have fun"

Very strange.

The airport is quite a distance from West End Edmonton and I couldn't wait for my bed but it was still only about 7:30pm Canadian time so we went for something to eat and then took to our bed.
