 From high to low!The fact that our bank account has been opened so efficiently and quickly, we hoped that the mortgage side would be done as quickly - not the case.It seems that the UK side of HSBC works very quickly, but the Canadian side which is dealing with the mortgage is slow beyond slow. We have had out account manager chasing them almost daily, but so far nothing has been received. This means that we have little chance of securing a mortgage before our trip to Canada next week - unless a miracle happens. We could still secure one with a broker once we are there, but they charge a fee and the rates are generally a little higher - but we can look into it anyway once we arrive. Either way we are going to spend about four days visiting houses in a couple of preferred areas, so hopefully we will find the house of our dreams.
