Immigration Journal

The story of two people who emigrated from the UK to Ontario, Canada July 2006.

Bank Account

Got a huge pack of paperwork today from the bank.

It seems we need to fill in half a dozen different sheets of paper with basically exactly the same information on each to open a Canadian account.

Once filled in they all have to be taken back to the bank to be countersigned and sent to their international London office. We also have to deposit at least $1,000 CAD.

So I will now fill in all the paperwork and we will have to take a trip to the bank on Saturday to get it all signed and sent off. Then we might have to wait about 6 weeks for it to be opened.

It will probably be opened at about the time we are visiting Canada, so we can actually visit the branch there to get our ATM card and cheque book as they only issue those in person!

Yet another step along the long immigration route
