Chipmunk delight

I just love our chipmunks. We have several making very frequent visits to our garden. Last week, instead of putting our just seeds etc, we put out whole peanuts (in the shells).

Well the Blue Jays love them and just pick them up and fly off with them. However, the chipmunks have taken to putting one whole peanut in one side of its mouth, another in the other side and then a third it holds in its mouth, runs off and buries them. Their little cheeks are stuffed with them.

See my photo album to see photo I took this afternoon of one chipmunk with a peanut shaped cheek, about to consume yet another.

Fortunately they are quite tame and I can get to within a couple of feet of them before they run. I hope to have them feeding out of my hand soon!
