Hair, grills and pesky raccoons!Well, I got my hair done and I still look reasonably human so not so bad. I think the woman who did suspected I was nervous of a new stylist as she was only taking off the smallest amount of hair. I had to tell her to take off more, or I never would have known I had had it done! Not sure if I will go back there, there are a few other salons nearby so might give one of them a try before committing. The car has also been serviced at a huge cost of $35. Has to be done in another 5,000 km, but hopefully it will take us longer to get to this milestone than it did the first 5k. Another thing that struck me last night was that our huge oven is only a single oven; meaning the baking and grilling are all done in the main oven. This means that you cannot grill at the same time you have something in the oven, which can happen if people want different things to eat. It also means that when grilling and food spitting it makes the oven very messy. I looked at getting another oven, but they all seem the same over here, and they are very expensive - so we today we treated ourselves to a portable grill. I did a bit of research and a T-Fal one came up well, so we got it from Canadian Tire reduced from $115 to $65. Used it tonight for burgers and it worked well. It is like one of the George Forman grills but a single large plate rather than a base and lid setup. Much cheaper option than a new oven. Whilst in Canadian Tire we also got some Critter Ridder to see if it keeps the pesky raccoons away ($30). Will report back on that tomorrow. Well, as I write this hubby has just looked out the back and the bloody raccoons are sitting up the tree happy as Larry. So, Critter Ridder doesn’t work at all – anyone have any other suggestions? It wouldn't be so bad if there was only one, but we have five of them!
