Immigration Journal

The story of two people who emigrated from the UK to Ontario, Canada July 2006.

Money exchange

Last week we exchanged quite a lot of our UK funds to Canadian and transferred it to our Canadian account. We did this through HIFX and it was very quick and easy.

We were obviously trying to get the best rate we could. When we were out visiting Canada last year the exchange rate was a healthy 2.4 $ to the £. So to exchange at 2.09 was a little disappointing, however since then it has slowly fallen again. The last time I looked it was only 2.05, so looks like we made a good move. Only a few weeks ago it went well below the $2 mark.

Only six weeks to go before we land and only 4 weeks before I leave my job, two very good reasons to feel pretty good at the moment.

Still haven't sold the house though, still fingers crossed!

Good luck

We go on August 14th. Wife arranging all the things you talk about just as we speak. Mad, panic, mayhem. Move in with Sis-in-law for 4 weeks on July 14th. Then the panic really begins!

Best wishes.
