Hello from Siofok, HungaryPosted on Monday 11 August 2008 at 04:08 - 0 Comments - LinkMy husband has a new job for 3 years in Hungary and we have all moved out to be with him.I am Jo, nearly 40 (oh woe is me), our children are Rowan (4) and Magnus (3). We used to live in Falkirk, Scotland but now live in Siofok, Hungary. I hope to give the information about Hungary that I could not find. Everything seems to be so Budapest centred. Let me know if you have any suggestions. This living abroad thing is all new to me. I know that some people are old hands at it by my age. I wanted to do something different by the time I was 40 (a mid-life crisis?) and Hungary is it. For now I am blotting out the fact that our house in the UK is unsold and that Hungarian is a very difficult language to learn. I love Hungary, it is similar in a lot of respects to the UK but oh how so different too. The people are friendly but formal, the weather is hot but also very cold (not experienced this yet). The food is a bit of a test for this once vegetarian who does not need meat to enjoy a meal but I am trying different dishes. There is still a market in Siofok and the kids have made friends with some of the ladies there- they much prefer it to Tescos and so do I. We are trying to sort out a nursery for Rowan and Magnus to go to- I will post details of our experience when I have some.
I have another blog that I actually keep up to date: http://3yearsinhungary.blogspot.com/ |
