Seeing as we are not buying our own place right now, I thought I would devote some time and love on the rental we are in. In a mad rush of enthusiasm I decided that as the grass was covered in weeds (mostly bindi, which is a real nightmare as it goes all prickly) I decided to get tough and spray some bindie weedkiller. I read the instructions mixed it up and sprayed it around , gleefully getting up a couple of days later, rubbing my hands at the thought of all those nuked weeds, I opened the blinds to be greeted with great patches of yellow dying grass (and to be fair some brown looking weeds). This disaster was further compounded that morning , when I received a letter from our property manager informing me that my next rental inspection was scheduled for Monday the 12th November. So I`ve hatched one of my plans and bought some grass seed and some lawn top dressing, which I will scatter this weekend (don`t want to do it too early or the dog will dig in it) and tell the property manager that Im feeding the lawn and putting top dressing down as the soil is in bad condition and repelling water!! That along with some strategically placed mulch to cover the holes in the flowers beds the dog has already dug!!
I don`t know if this is just a WA thing but I`ve noticed that the plaster in this rental is really bad, I mean really, really bad. I thought when we first moved in that the previous tenant must have been really hashy and careless when they moved as there were a lot of gouges and scratches in the plaster. I`ve since found out that in reality all you have to do is walk within 6 inches of the wall and plaster just leaps off it!! Finding some paint in the shed I thought I`d cover up some of the white plaster showing through, which was fine in theory except that as I`ve discovered, the house is painted in 2 slightly differing shades of cream. At first I thought the paint would darken as it dried......but no, it didn`t and I was now staring at various light cream blobs along the wall in the front room (it looked the right colour on the tin lid I tell you, it`s the damned light!!) Aaah well out with the scrubby spongy dish scrubber and some soapy water and it`s gradually blending in!! I never learn do I ????
