The flight

Well we did a wee tour of Britain last week after giving up the house, off up to Co Durham to see the in laws, then down to Nottinghamshire to see my eldest sister and finally down to Suffolk to see my other sister. On Saturday we went to Heathrow and stayed at the Premier Travel Inn on Bath Road, can really recommend it, 55 squid for a family room which was lovely and clean, the staff were very helpful and friendly too. We met up with Sam & Abdel for a wee bit on the Saturday night which was nice - Sam gave H a farting bear (cheers for that mate - I will get my revenge!!).

We called an MPV taxi to take us to the airport - 16 pound I was told, we got there, I gave the bloke a 20 pound note and he just drove off thieving git!!

We went to check in with the bags (3 large suitcases, 1 small suitcase, 1 very large holdall, 1 medium holdall with hubby`s tools), now we weighed our stuff before we left our house and we were under our limit of 120kilo`s - except when they weighed them at checkout we were 10 kilo`s over!!We had forgotten about the portable dvd player, cd`s and dvd`s plus other bits of crap we had taken out the hire car and put in our luggage !! DOH!!!  So the girl at check in speaks to her supervisor who was very nice and suggested we shove my handbag into the small suitcase and take the case on as hand luggage (even though it was over the 7kilo hand luggage allowance) Brilliant we say, so this is what we do - except it dawns on us as we approach security that I have all my make up and toiletries in this case - so we hurriedly dump all the large bottles of shampoo and shower gel along with my nail polish & some other stuff (still it was cheaper doing that than paying the 380 pound excess baggage fees that we could have had). We eventually get on the plane to be told that we have an engine problem - 2hrs later we finally take off!

Now the flight itself wasn`t too bad - I`ve never done a long haul flight before and I have to say I thought Singapore Airlines were great - the staff were so good with our 11 yr old daughter and nothing was too much trouble. The only problem I had was with the girl sitting in front of me - that bloody chair was up & down more times than a tarts knickers - usually as I was drinking or eating something or had just got myself into a comfy position. I was suprised at how much my lips dried out too - they looked like old bits of curled, dried up ham that had been left in the fridge too long!! Ladies take some moiusturiser- you have been warned!!

We arrived in Singapore just after 9am - our connecting flight to Perth was leaving at 9.35am - I`d like to tell you all what I thought of Singapore but all I saw was a vague blur as we raced from arrivals up to the departure gate which could not have been further away if I`d tried!! We get on the plane with a whole 5 minutes to spare - feeling very flustered and very relieved.

We got to Perth bang on time and were met by hubby`s Aunt & Uncle who we are staying with, H was really excited to see the kangaroos as we drove to their house, even more so when we arrived and she was allowed to feed their pony.

So it`s all good at the mo - especially after a few hours kip in a comfy bed, we are off later to look down at Warnbro. I will let you know how that goes later.

Brilliant!
I loved reading this and your description of things and hope you continue to post with your adventures and stuff.

Abdel and I are counting down the days now and half of it is knowing we can still see you for drinks and a chat.

Tell H that I have an even larger farting bear with a wide selection of farts and she can have it if she likes.

Take care and hope you settle quickly.

Love Sam
