ImageOver $560 million in potential investment capital is poised to flow into the New Zealand economy, and changes to the Government’s business migration scheme will increase investment further, says Immigration Minister Jonathan Coleman. Dr Coleman confirmed the Government’s business migration scheme has attracted over half-a-billion dollars in potential investment. Changes have also been made to the policy to increase its appeal to investors.

ImageThe temptation for workers to leave the UK for pastures new is stronger than ever according to latest research. The study of 1,000 consumers aged 18–45 indicates that our current culture of austerity has spurred many to consider a move overseas with over half (54%)1 of respondents now saying they would contemplate doing so. There is no doubt that the UK economy is playing a role in this trend. Nine out of 10 (89%) respondents believe the last three years has seen a decline in the UK job market.

Retired Expats Weak Pound Worries Print E-mail

ImageAn increasing number of retired British expatriates are anxious about reduced pension income, according to a survey by Lloyds TSB International. In some cases the weak pound has cut their income by a quarter since the financial crisis started. New research reveals great concern regarding reduced pensions income, with more than two thirds of expat pensioners worrying about fluctuations in currency. A long-term weakness in Sterling may result in a trend for pensioners to shift bank accounts offshore.

New rules to strengthen the Temporary Foreign Worker Program Print E-mail

ImageTemporary foreign workers will be better protected after new safeguards take effect April 1, Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney said in March. Improvements to the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) will ensure that the program continues to be fair to employers and maintain its focus on alleviating temporary labour shortages.
