 78% of Australians aged 18 years and over were satisfied with their
lives, similar to the 76% who reported being satisfied in 2001,
according to figures released today by the Australian Bureau of
Statistics' 2010 General Social Survey (GSS). In 2010, 43% were pleased
or delighted with their lives, while 34% reported being mostly
satisfied.

iPlayer App in Australia, which will be available to on the App Store
exclusively on iPad. The app will give iPad users access to a quality

for Australian viewers. The global BBC iPlayer is a unique video on demand subscription service
that will deliver over 1000 hours of award-winning British programming
for a monthly subscription fee.

 Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney is
proposing changes to the way the government assesses the language
abilities of prospective new citizens. Under the proposal, published today in the Canada Gazette for public
input, adult citizenship applicants would be required to provide
objective evidence of language ability with their citizenship
applications.

 The wealthiest 20% of households have increased their average net worth
15% since 2005-06 (CPI adjusted), while the poorest 20% of households
saw only a 4% rise, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics
(ABS). The poorest 20% of households had an average net worth of
$32,000 per household, which accounted for 1% of total household wealth.

 The main item of interest for our members in the past few weeks has been
the introduction into the UK Parliament of another petition on the
subject of the frozen pensions. In the past few days many of our members
who have previously signed an earlier ICBP petition will have been sent
another invitation to sign this latest version. So please bear with me
