New Process For Temporary Business Visa Labour Agreements Print E-mail

ImageThe Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Senator Chris Evans, yesterday confirmed that labour agreements covering business visas will be subject to a more transparent process. Employers can negotiate a labour agreement with the Commonwealth which sets out the numbers and occupations of overseas skilled workers to be covered and provides for variations to the standard requirements under the temporary business Subclass 457 visa program.

Citizenship Test Results Published Print E-mail

Minister for Immigration and Citizenship. The first snapshot report of the Australian Citizenship Test shows that in the first three month's of operation, 93 per cent of people who sat the test passed on their first or subsequent attempt. The results of the first three months of the test are available on the Citizenship website.

Australia welcomes more than 14,000 new citizens Print E-mail

More than 14 000 people from 114 countries became Australian citizens at 321 Australia Day events around the nation this year. The Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Senator Chris Evans, said the new citizens would join more than four million others who had become Australian citizens when Australian Citizenship was introduced in 1949.

78% of British Expats Are Happier Abroad Print E-mail

ImageSpain has beaten out Australia as the ‘Happiest’ destination for British expats, despite almost 40% of British expatriates (expats) selecting Australia as their top destination country, according to a new survey by BritishExpats.com and global foreign exchange provider OzForex. The survey was carried out in September 2007 and had over 1,000 respondents.
